1. Keep all supplies that are required to do a manicure accessible to you in a hand's reach, rather than running all around the house hunting for it in the middle of the manicure session. Remove any old nail polish with nail polish remover and cotton. 
2. Clip, file and buff your nails. Remove the dirt underneath the nail corners. Always file your nails towards the center and not by back and forth motion, as it leads to tear and breakage of nails.
3. Soak your hands in a bowl of warm water with a drop of disinfectant or shampoo for a couple of minutes. Dry your hands completely with a hand towel. 
4. Apply cuticle oil or vaseline to your nails. Use the cuticle pusher and gently push the cuticle back in a circular motion. Follow it by cleaning your nails with a soft nail brush with a dollop of shampoo or body wash.
5. Exfoliate your hands with scrub, wash your hands and dry it. Apply hand cream or body lotion and give a quick massage. 
6. Wipe the nails with cotton to remove excess lotion. Now it is time to apply the nail polish, start with a base coat to protect your nails and prevent it from chipping. Follow it by two coats of your favorite nail polish. Let it dry completely and TADA !!! salon-perfect nails at home.
