Below I have listed some MUST visit places and locations for the soon-to-go tourists to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Enjoy the read guys!
1. PETRONAS Towers
These are also known as Petronas twin towers; they remain the tallest twin towers in the world. They are a landmark of Kuala Lumpur. If you want to save yourself on any delay or simply avoid yourself from standing long time in the queue to get the tickets then better book tickets online. Also, arrive at least 10-15 minutes before the given schedule.
2. Menara KL tower
You sure should catch this spectacular view of Menara tower. Constructed in 1944, the luminous tower’s spindle-like peak is visible from nearly anywhere in Kuala Lumpur. The view is the best at night, when everything shines and gleams in its glory. The tower is put up atop the Bukit Nanas (Pineapple Hill) Forest Reserve. You not only get an awesome view of Petronas tower from the observation deck but also can enjoy a cup of tea or a meal in the revolving restaurant of Menara KL; Atmosphere 360.
3. China town
This place is in the heart of the city and on the ‘Petaling Street’ which never seems to sleep and is full of life with the market chirps and colorfulness. It’s also known as a paradise for the bargain hunters, like me! A place to fetch awesome food and you get all kinds of stuff at cheap prices which further can be bargained down. Pure Bliss!
4. Batu Caves
It is a limestone hill having 3 major caves and several smaller ones; located in the outskirts of the city. This 100 year old temple is considered to be an important landmark by Hindus featuring idols and statues erected in the main caves depicting Ramayana. It is a destination of steep steps with monkeys all around.
5. Butterfly park-
This park is located on the edge of KL Lake gardens and approx. 10 minutes from downtown KL, has the most magnificent butterflies and a treat to the eyes watching them flutter around and under a massive net canopy. A must visit for all butterfly lovers and the kids especially! Ask your cab driver to take you to Taman rama-rama (Butterfly Park).
6. KL bird park
KL Bird park is located adjacent to the Lake gardens, the bird park houses more than 3000 birds of 200 (90% being local birds) different species in an enclosed aviary. A delight for the nature lovers. You also will find refreshment kiosks. It is one of the world’s largest aviaries.
7. Genting Highland
Genting is an integrated resort developed consisting of casinos, hotels and a theme park all located outside KL of about a distance of 35 kilometers (1 hour). Cable car ride down and up the slopes is a must there. Haunted house and Ripley’s believe it or not shouldn’t be missed at all. Ripley’s is famous for showcasing the human oddities and all the crazy stuff you would’ve never seen until the visit.
8. Thean Hau temple
It overlooks the Federal highway, this six-tiered Buddhist temple also famous as the Temple of the Goddess of Heaven has a serene and peaceful atmosphere. It is well maintained with the entrance of multi-arched gateways with red pillars and dragon inspired columns.
9. National Royal museum (old istana nigara)
It was the former residence of the supreme king of Malaysia and now has been converted to the Royal museum. Affordable entrance fees around RM 10. You’ll need to take your shoes off while entering. After 4 pm it is barred for the visitors. Photos aren’t allowed inside the palace, although outside it is permitted.
